Apple Custard Bake (Simple & Homemade)

Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (white or brown)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil (for greasing the dish)
  • Pinch of salt

Equipment

  • Small baking dish (about 15–18 cm / 6–7 inches)
  • Bowl
  • Fork or whisk
  • Knife

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    Set oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. Prepare apples
    • Peel apples (optional).
    • Core and slice thinly.
    • Put slices in a bowl and mix with 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Prepare baking dish
    • Grease dish with butter or oil.
    • Spread apples evenly in the dish.
  4. Make custard
    • In a bowl, whisk eggs with remaining 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and vanilla.
    • Mix until smooth and slightly foamy.
  5. Assemble
    • Pour egg mixture evenly over the apples.
    • Gently press apples down so they’re mostly covered.
  6. Bake
    • Bake for 25–30 minutes.
    • Top should be set and lightly golden.
    • A knife inserted in the center should come out mostly clean.
  7. Cool & serve
    • Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.
    • Serve warm or cold.
